COSTS

WHAT PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY ACTUALLY COSTS IN 2026

Quotes are hard to compare because they price different things. Here is what each route costs, what is missing from the quote, and how to work out the number that matters — cost per published image.

The routes

RouteTypical priceLead time
Studio, on-model$40–$150 per image; day rates $800–$3,000 plus model fees1–3 days + scheduling
Ghost mannequin$25–$60 per image1–3 days
Freelance photographer$20–$80 per imageDays to weeks
AI generationfrom ~$2.39 per imageMinutes

Ranges vary widely by city and by category. Treat them as a starting point for your own quotes, not a benchmark.

What the quote leaves out

The number to compare

Not price per photo — price per published image. Divide the total spend, including everything above, by the images that actually made it onto a product page. Shoots lose frames to rejects and to samples that never arrived; that loss belongs in the maths.

Where AI is not cheaper

If you shoot one campaign a year with a strong creative concept, AI does not replace it and will not save you money. The saving shows up in repetition: restocks, colourways, the long tail of the catalogue that never justified a booking. That is also where the lead time matters most — an image you can make the same afternoon changes how quickly a product can go live.

Frequently asked

Is AI generation always cheaper?

Per image, usually. For a single hero campaign shot with a specific creative concept, a real shoot is the right spend.

What does a Fitrine image cost?

One try-on at 2K is 4 credits, and credits start at $0.60 — about $2.39 per image. Larger packs bring the credit price down.

Are there usage limits on the images?

No time-limited model rights: the models are generated, so there is nothing to renew.
