●HOW TO
A PRODUCT VIDEO FROM A SINGLE PHOTO
Short video outperforms stills on almost every social surface, and shooting it is disproportionately expensive. A still you already have can become five seconds of motion — within limits worth knowing before you plan a campaign around it.
What motion adds
- Drape. How fabric moves is information a still cannot carry, and it is exactly what a shopper wants for knitwear, dresses and outerwear.
- Scale. A garment in motion reads as a real object on a real body.
- Attention. Feeds are built for video; a still competes at a disadvantage.
What to expect
Generated video is short — around five seconds — and the motion is subtle: a turn, a step, fabric settling. It will not produce a choreographed campaign film, and it should not be sold internally as one. Treat it as a moving product shot.
Where it fails
Hands and small hardware are the weak points. Fingers can distort mid-motion, and a zip pull or a buckle can smear across frames in a way a still would never show. Watch the clip at full size before posting; problems that are invisible in a thumbnail are obvious on a phone held at arm's length.
Fine repeating patterns — pinstripes, small checks, dense knits — can shimmer as the fabric moves. If your product is one of those, test one item before committing the range.
A practical workflow
- Generate the on-model still first and get it right.
- Check it against the garment: fastenings, print placement, colour.
- Only then animate. Video multiplies whatever is in the still, including its mistakes.
- Review at full size, on a phone, before it goes out.
Video costs 6 credits for 5 seconds at 1080p — roughly $3.59. That is cheap enough to test a single product before deciding whether the format works for your category.
Frequently asked
How long are the clips?
About five seconds at 1080p — sized for social feeds and product-page loops.
Can I animate a photo I did not generate here?
The reliable path is to generate the on-model still first, because the video inherits everything in the source frame.
Is it good enough for paid ads?
For product-led social ads, usually. For a brand campaign where the film is the idea, shoot it.
Try it with your own product. Upload one photo and see the frame in minutes.
